The R32 EV is a one-off creation that blends the legendary performance of the R32 with the latest in electric vehicle technology. The project was spearheaded by Nissan’s EV powertrain engineer Ryozo Hiraku, who aimed to preserve the essence of the original "Godzilla" while future-proofing its performance. The R32 EV is powered by two 160 kW electric motors and a 62 kWh battery sourced from the LEAF NISMO RC02. Despite adding 370 kg due to the EV components, the car's torque and performance have been carefully tuned to match the original R32 GT-R’s dynamic specifications.

In terms of design, the R32 EV retains its iconic aesthetic, finished in Gun Grey metallic, while sporting NISMO Sports suspension with Öhlins dampers, R35-inspired brakes, and custom 18-inch wheels. The cabin combines nostalgia with modern features, such as Recaro seats and a digital update to the original gauge cluster. To mimic the driving experience of the original, Nissan has also integrated paddle shifters, artificial engine sounds, and simulated gear shifts.

At this stage, Nissan has confirmed that the R32 EV will not be released commercially, making this a unique and one-of-a-kind project.

The R32 EV is a one-off creation that blends the legendary performance of the R32 with the latest in electric vehicle technology. It's set to be a showstopper at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon, offering a rare glimpse into how Nissan blends heritage with cutting-edge electric technology.
